The City of San Antonio in partnership with the San Antonio Community Resource Directory (SACRD) has officially launched the Housing Services Portal, a digital platform aimed at providing a centralized location for housing-related services in the city. The portal was unveiled on April 23, 2024, with a training session for local nonprofit organizations offering supportive services for individuals seeking housing-related assistance.
Veronica Garcia, Director of the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "We are thrilled to unveil the SACRD Housing Services Portal, a vital resource designed to streamline access to housing services and support in our community." She emphasized the importance of the portal in addressing housing challenges and ensuring access to housing-related resources.
Bill Neely, Executive Director for SACRD, highlighted the significance of the partnership with the City of San Antonio, stating, "SACRD is pleased to continue our partnership with the City of San Antonio to collect and share information on the crucial services people in our community need." He commended the Housing Services Portal as an innovative extension to their existing platform, emphasizing its potential to assist those addressing housing-related needs.
The Housing Services Portal offers a wide range of services beyond just finding affordable housing, including utility and rental assistance, legal aid, eviction intervention, relocation services, home repairs, and maintenance. The platform is available in both English and Spanish and was developed in collaboration with housing service providers, human services organizations, and community groups.
To facilitate the use of the portal, SACRD will conduct routine training sessions for interested community partners, agencies, and individuals. The portal can be accessed at SACRD.org/housingservices, with additional instructional videos available on the SACRD website for further guidance.
The launch event included a live training session with a Q&A segment and distribution of collateral materials to assist attendees in navigating the portal efficiently. The initiative aims to enhance accessibility to housing services and support, marking a significant step forward in addressing housing needs within the San Antonio community.
