The results of the City of San Antonio’s 2024 Community Satisfaction & Budget Priority Survey indicate a significant increase in resident satisfaction with city services. The survey revealed an all-time high satisfaction rating of 87 percent for the overall quality of city services, marking a notable rise from previous years—74 percent in 2022 and 64 percent in 2018.

City Manager Erik Walsh commented on the findings: “The 2024 results of the community survey demonstrate that the City of San Antonio has continued moving in the right direction in recent years. Customer service remains our focus, and the survey data will help us determine community priorities to invest our efforts and resources in the upcoming fiscal year budget. I would like to thank our more than 13,000 City employees who are deeply committed to our customers, our City residents.”

ETC Institute, Inc., contracted by the city, conducted a statistically valid survey representative of the community. Over 1,000 residents were randomly sampled, with at least 100 residents surveyed in each of the city's ten council districts. The samples reflected demographic compositions regarding age, gender, race/ethnicity, and other factors.

Chris Tatham, CEO of ETC Institute, noted: “The results of the survey show that the City is investing in services that are important to its residents. For example, the ranking of infrastructure as a top priority for investment, coupled with the leap in satisfaction in the overall quality of Public Works services, shows that the City listens to its residents and delivers accordingly.”

The survey indicated that San Antonio is performing significantly above national averages in customer service and overall city services satisfaction ratings. Resident satisfaction increased notably across various areas assessed; for instance, there was a 24 percent increase in satisfaction with Public Works services compared to 2022.

Conducted biennially by an independent consultant since at least 2018 (with no survey conducted in 2020 due to COVID-19), this year's Community Satisfaction & Budget Priority Survey aimed to measure resident satisfaction with city service delivery, identify investment priorities for city leaders, and monitor progress since previous surveys.

Residents identified their top priorities for investment in Fiscal Year 2025 as follows:

1. Streets

2. Homeless encampment cleanups

3. Services to assist homeless individuals

4. Sidewalks

San Antonio continues setting a national standard for service delivery:

- Customer service satisfaction stands at 88 percent versus a national average of 32 percent.

- Overall city services satisfaction is at 87 percent compared to a national average of 41 percent.

- The city ranks first among major Texas cities across most categories.
