This July, San Antonio Parks and Recreation invites the community to celebrate Park and Recreation Month. This month-long celebration highlights how parks and recreation makes for a stronger, more vibrant and more resilient San Antonio. A variety of activities are planned for the community of all ages and abilities – including Movies in the Pool, Star Party, and a Silent Disco.
Park and Recreation Month is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) that invites residents to explore and share the many ways parks and recreation benefits our community’s quality of life. This year’s theme, “Where Community Grows”, highlights how local parks and recreation agencies are uniquely suited to serve as community wellness hubs, connecting members of the community to programs and services that advance health equity, improve health outcomes and enhance quality of life.
“Whether through free Fitness in the Park classes, low-cost youth camps, or access to over 255 parks and 100 miles of greenway trails, there are many ways our community utilizes parks and recreation in their daily lives,” said Homer Garcia III, Director of Parks and Recreation.
