The Alliance Regional Water Authority will receive $65 million from the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT), helping fund a regional construction project.
The Texas Water Development Board approved the funding to help the Alliance Regional Water Authority (ARWA), which includes Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Comal and Bexar counties, save approximately $4.4 million. The ARWA includes urban areas expanding at among the fastest rates in the nation, the Texas Water Newsroom reported.
The project receiving the financial assistance, the Carrizo Water Supply Project, will ensure sponsors receive treated groundwater by adding a aquifer well field. The ARWA is working with the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority on the project.
In 2015 and in 2017, the SWIFT program also awarded the ARWA financial assistance on the Carrizo Water Supply Project.
