Enrollment at Medina Valley ISD schools increased by 10.6% compared to previous school year

There were 6,785 students enrolled in Medina Valley ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 10.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.7% of them were boys, and 48.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 64.1% of the Medina Valley ISD total enrollment.

Medina Valley ISD roughly covers schools within Medina County with its main office in Castroville.

Among the eight schools in Medina Valley ISD, Medina Valley High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,936 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
