A new Bexar County grant program will provide economic relief to local bars and restaurants that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bexar County Restaurant and Bar Recovery Grant Program, which opened up for applications on Oct. 26, has approximately $3.75 million in funds available as business grants for the county's restaurant and bar establishments that need emergency relief due to COVID-19.

Eligible businesses can receive up to $25,000 to assist with expenses such as payroll, rents and mortgages, supplies, inventory or utility.

Businesses should ensure that they meet several qualifications before applying for the grants, including:

***Being at or below $5 million in annual revenue.

***Having a maximum of 60 full-time or equivalent employees in the first quarter of 2020.

***Being designated as a business in the food and beverage industry and is commercially located.

***Not having previously received COVID-19 funding from the City of Antonio or Bexar County.

***Being located in Bexar County and demonstrating a loss of revenue equating to at least 15% since March 12.

***Not being a sexually oriented business, dance hall, catering or event planning company, or box meal service

Grants will be distributed at the end of November, and Bexar County bars and restaurants can apply for the grants here.
