There were 4,147 students enrolled in Somerset ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.8% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 91.7% of the Somerset ISD total enrollment.

Somerset ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County with its main office in Somerset.

Among the eight schools in Somerset ISD, Somerset High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,148 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
