San Antonio residents and commuters should be aware of upcoming lane closures in Downtown San Antonio. Two separate construction projects will impact traffic flow in the area.

Starting on Monday, February 5, a section of Santa Rosa Street will be closed for two weeks in order to extend water lines. The closure will affect two blocks of Santa Rosa Street, from Dolorosa Street to Houston Street. However, the intersections of Santa Rosa & Dolorosa (eastbound only), Santa Rosa & Commerce (westbound only), and Santa Rosa & Houston (westbound and eastbound) will remain open to traffic. Access to residences, businesses, and the Farmers Market parking garage will be maintained. In order to mitigate congestion and assist with traffic control, officers will be present at the location. The closure is expected to reopen by Sunday, February 18. This project is part of the Zona Cultural Streets 2017 Bond Project, which is set to be completed in Fall 2024.

Another lane closure will take place on Dolorosa Street, starting on Monday, January 29. This closure will impact one block of Dolorosa Street, from Santa Rosa Street to Laredo Street, and will last for two weeks. The purpose of this closure is to install an electric duct bank. The lane closure will start at 9 a.m. each day to accommodate the morning commute and will reopen at 7 p.m. The closure is expected to end by Friday, February 9. This project is funded by the City's Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) and is part of the Dolorosa Street Reconstruction project.

The City of San Antonio's Public Works department is committed to keeping residents and business owners informed about traffic and construction updates. They will use various methods such as in-person visits, public meetings, emails, media outreach, and social media to provide updates and information about the ongoing projects.

For more information and to sign up for construction updates, residents can visit SASpeakUp.com/ZonaCultural for the Zona Cultural Streets project and SASpeakUp.com/Dolorosa for the Dolorosa Street Reconstruction project.

These lane closures are necessary for the improvement and development of San Antonio's downtown area. While they may cause temporary inconvenience, the long-term benefits of these projects will contribute to the growth and enhancement of the city's infrastructure.
