The San Antonio River cleanup operations are set to conclude on Sunday, January 21, according to the schedule. However, due to adverse weather conditions, the media event that was supposed to take place on Wednesday, January 17, has been canceled. The timeline for the cleanup operations had to be altered to accommodate the weather.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the cleanup efforts were completed ahead of schedule on Sunday, January 14. This proactive approach was taken to ensure that the project stays on track and to mitigate any further delays caused by the unpredictable weather conditions.

"The Main Channel of the river remains drained, but the cleanup efforts were completed ahead of schedule on Sunday, Jan. 14 to stay ahead of the weather," said a spokesperson from the Public Works Department.

While the cleanup operations have been successfully carried out, there is still some maintenance work that needs to be done throughout the week. This additional work will contribute to the overall improvement and maintenance of the San Antonio River.

Once the maintenance work is completed, the refilling of the river will commence and is expected to be finished by Sunday, January 21. This will mark the completion of the project and the restoration of the river to its normal state.

The San Antonio River cleanup and maintenance project falls under the category of Construction & Land Development as well as Transportation, Public Streets & Parking. The Public Works Department is responsible for overseeing and executing these operations.

It is important to note that while the media event has been canceled, the efforts put into the cleanup and maintenance of the San Antonio River have not been in vain. The completion of this project will have a positive impact on the community, ensuring a cleaner and more enjoyable environment for residents and visitors alike.

As the San Antonio River cleanup operations near their conclusion, the City remains committed to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of this important natural resource.
