SAN ANTONIO (December 14, 2023) - With the holiday season in full swing, Downtown San Antonio is gearing up to welcome a large number of visitors to enjoy the festive lights, events, and celebrations. However, in order to ensure a smooth experience, visitors are being advised to plan ahead and take into account potential disruptions caused by traffic, construction projects, and limited parking options.

The upcoming weekend of December 15-17 is expected to be particularly busy, and therefore, it is crucial for visitors to consider alternative modes of transportation to avoid the hassle of driving in congested areas. Public transportation, ride-sharing services, biking, and walking are encouraged as convenient and eco-friendly options. Utilizing navigation and traffic apps, such as Waze or Google Maps, can also assist in finding the most efficient routes.

City officials emphasize the importance of arriving early and allowing plenty of time for travel. Those who choose to drive are urged to plan their parking arrangements in advance and enter the address of their chosen parking facility into their navigation app. The City of San Antonio offers a range of convenient and affordable parking options, including the St. Mary's Garage and the City Tower Garage, both of which are located near popular attractions like the River Walk, Houston Street, and Travis Park.

To assist visitors in finding available parking spaces, the City's SAPark website provides a comprehensive map of all City-owned garages and lots. Additionally, Downtown Tuesday offers free parking on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. in City-owned parking facilities, while City Tower Sundays provides free parking on Sundays from 7 a.m. to midnight at the City Tower Garage.

As the holiday season is a time for celebration, officials also remind visitors to celebrate responsibly and plan for a sober ride. This ensures the safety of all individuals and helps to maintain a positive and enjoyable atmosphere throughout Downtown San Antonio.

In conclusion, visitors to Downtown San Antonio during the holiday season are advised to plan ahead and take into consideration potential traffic, detours, and parking challenges. By utilizing alternative modes of transportation, planning parking arrangements in advance, and celebrating responsibly, visitors can ensure a smooth and memorable experience in the heart of the city.
