SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Youth Commission from the Department of Human Services and the Metropolitan Health District’s Project Worth Teen Ambassadors have worked with community partners to create TeensDaySA, a Summit for Learning Among Youth, to celebrate the brilliance, grit, and health of young people in San Antonio.
The event on Saturday, May 20, welcomes anyone 12 years of age and older. It will include free food for those who RSVP early, fun activities, opportunities to connect with other people of the same age, and resources for teens from popular organizations across San Antonio.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will also offer workshops and resources for parents, guardians, and adults working with area youth at the event, including a Strengthening Families workshop sponsored by Project Worth. Attendees can register through the workshop’s event page.
The City of San Antonio will offer free shuttle rides for attendees who need transportation services at the Claude Black, Normoyle, and Sonny Melendrez Community Centers.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and National Adolescent Health Month. To recognize these important topics and the 2022 Teen Mental Health Survey recommendations from youth respondents, the Youth Commission and Project Worth Teen Ambassadors collaborated with various community groups to design this citywide event for youth, young adults, and those caring for them. Groups that contributed to this event include Healthy Futures of Texas, Rise Recovery, Thrive Youth Center, Live the Life Church, the San Antonio AIDS Foundation, Ecumenical Center, and UT Teen Health.
