Madla Elementary School principal JoAnn Buchanan has met with her staff continuously over the last couple of months to prepare their campus for the return of some students on Oct. 5. She has been an educator for 40 years and wants her students to come back to as much of a normal environment as is safely possible.
Buchanan is grateful for all the first responders who have stepped up during the pandemic to keep things moving, but says it is now time for educators to do their part.
“That’s our job as educators,” Buchanan said. “It’s our turn to step forward and educate our children and welcome them back because that’s what we took our oath for.”
