SOUTH SAN ANTONIO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT: South San HS Alum Launches New Magazine to Highlight Community

Ballpen

South San Antonio Independent School District issued the following announcement.

Special to the District:

A South San High School alum has launched a new magazine which will highlight our community.

“Live From The Southside” magazine launched this month by author and editor-in-chief April Monterrosa to highlight positive attributes of San Antonio’s Southside community.

San Antonio native, author, entrepreneur, blogger and Southside advocate, April Monterrosa, launched her new magazine as a way to share news about San Antonio’s Southside businesses, tastemakers, culture, art, and familial pride.

“My vision for the magazine is to motivate our community to support each other, personally and professionally. The goal for the magazine is to improve and expand community relationships through promoting positive events, stories, healthy living, and businesses,” Monterrosa says.

The monthly magazine was the next step in expanding Monterrosa’s “Live From The Southside” online newsletter and blog that successfully debuted in February 2019.  The magazine and online platform include local contributing writers and feature stories written by, or about Southside leaders, businesses, artists, cultural icons, students, events, travel tips, education, and more.

The newly launched magazine is available online and in print version at  www.southsidesanantonio.com/magazine. Monterrosa hopes to provide a monthly subscription in the near future as her Southside following continues to grow.
