The Bexar County Hospital District has distributed a Notice of Public Hearing On Tax Increase, proposing a tax rate of $0.276235 per $100.
The hospital also proposed a no-new revenue tax rate of 0.271152 per $100 and a voter-approval tax rate of $0.299706 per $100.
While members of the public are allowed to share their thoughts on the proposed tax rates, an election is not required since the voter-approval tax rate is within the allotted amount, and is the highest that the hospital can propose without residents having to cast their vote in approval.
The no-new revenue tax rate is the rate for the 2020 tax year that would increase the same amount of tax income for the hospital from the same properties in the 2019 and 2020 tax years.
