Texas A&M University-San Antonio issued the following announcement.
Beginning this fall, students applying to Texas A&M University-San Antonio for the Spring 2021, Summer 2021, Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters will not be required to submit SAT or ACT test scores for admission consideration. The new policy will provide an opportunity for students who may have been prevented from completing the SAT or ACT standardized tests due to cancellations related to COVID-19.
Applicants for first-year or first-year transfer admission who meet at least a 2.75 GPA will not be required to submit test scores to the Office of Admissions for admissions consideration. However, if a student has scores and wishes to submit them, the Office of Admissions will accept and process the scores as part of the student’s application.
“Making this temporary adjustment for our future students is the right thing to do. Considering the fact that COVID-19 has presented many challenges, we wanted to help students reach their dreams, and changing this was just one of the ways we could do so,” said Brandy McLelland, vice president for enrollment management at
A&M-San Antonio. “Our admissions process looks at a student holistically, including transcripts, to determine academic excellence and determination.”
Students wishing to apply to A&M-San Antonio will still be required to complete the application at ApplyTexas.org and submit all high school and college transcripts, and they may be required to pay the $15 application fee. For automatic admission, new first-time students and first-year students transferring with less than 30 credit hours must meet the following criteria:
CLASS RANK/GPA | SAT COMPOSITE SCORE
(new/old) | ACT COMPOSITE SCORE |
Top 25% | No score required | No score required |
GPA =>3.25 | No score required | No score required |
GPA =>2.75 | No score required | No score required |
No Minimum | 1020/1100 or higher | 22 or higher |
This new policy is not applicable for transfer students. Transfer students who have at least 30 credit hours are not required to submit SAT/ACT test scores as part of the admissions process. Transfer students must have a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must be able to return to any previously attended institutions.
