Those who have lost their jobs during COVID-19 can now benefit from a new tech training center at Port San Antonio to develop new skills.

According to the Port San Antonio website, the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT) is joining forces with Port San Antonio for the training facility to be launched this summer. The first priority to is help train workers who have lost their jobs amid the COVID-19 pandemic and assist those who want to improve their skills for a new career path.

SAMSAT will work with other field experts and educators to provide training and placement resources such as the Workforce Solutions Alamo, with assistance through the City of San Antonio and Bexar County, and backing from The Alamo Colleges District, Project Quest and SAWorks.

The Port San Antonio Board of Directors has already passed a $500,000 yearly sponsorship package to fund SAMSAT’s operations at the Port site, like leasing the new facility for free to the museum.
