Businesses in Bexar County can receive free Plexiglass kits to help distance employees and customers as stores begin to reopen in the area.

KSAT reported that county officials at Freedman Coliseum handed out the kits last week as a way to help small, local businesses have an extra safety measure when reopening.

If small businesses missed the event, they can still request essential items from the county such as personal protective equipment, KSAT reported. Bexar County's Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department will be accepting requests online. Any items requested are only given out one time to a business.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert also told small businesses about places small businesses can purchase personal protective equipment from local vendors, which will helps the local economy.

“These business people are incredibly grateful for these things,” he told KSAT. “These are hard-to-find items."
