This Saturday, Councilwoman Viagran is proud to celebrate the 10th annual District 3 Legacy Leadership Initiative (D3 LLI) Cohort at their graduation ceremony.

The D3 LLI has been the beginning to many success stories for young leaders in the Southside.

Grounded in the core values of empowerment, innovation, and community unity, the D3 LLI aspires to cultivate a new generation of young leaders who will champion positive change.

“The Legacy Leadership Initiative gave me an awesome opportunity to broaden my knowledge in a range of professional fields and it taught me to keep my choices open for the future,” said Nathan Barron, 2022 D3 LLI Alumni. “While in LLI I was able to develop my social skills and become more comfortable when it comes to talking to other people with the same goals as me. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that made me realize there are various occupations I might enjoy and want to pursue.”

The six-month program exposes young leaders to organizations, businesses, and leaders in the city. The students can learn about career opportunities and the key roles that help run a company successfully.

Through a series of carefully crafted mentorship programs, workshops, and collaborative projects, the D3 LLI aims to nurture leadership qualities such as resilience, adaptability, creativity, and empathy.

By equipping individuals with these attributes, District 3 endeavors to create a community of leaders who will steer our district towards excellence and prosperity.

The 2024 D3 LLI Cohort applications will open this October and the session will begin January 2024.
