San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is gearing up for a busy Spring Break travel season, with an expected 9-percent increase in travelers compared to last year. Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports at SAT, emphasized the importance of planning ahead and arriving early to ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers. Saenz stated, “We’re prepared as always because we want everyone to have an easy experience as they fly through SAT.”

In anticipation of the surge in travelers, Tonya Hope, Public Relations Manager at SAT, advised passengers to arrive at least 2 hours before their boarding time for domestic flights. TSA has also implemented extra measures to streamline the security screening process, including the addition of new screening equipment and ample personnel to handle the increased volume of passengers. Travelers are reminded to have their government-issued photo ID ready at security checkpoints.

Jacob Tyler, Air Service Development Manager at SAT, noted that the airport has seen a rise in flight options and a decrease in fares on competitive routes, making it an affordable time to travel. Tyler shared, “There’s never been a more affordable time to travel... This is good news for our community because more people can take that trip they might have put off or get to travel more to the places they want to go to.”

SAT's most popular destinations during last year's Spring Break included Las Vegas, New York City, Dallas Metroplex, Orlando, and Denver. Additionally, the airport has expanded its nonstop destinations with significant increases in flights to cities such as Dallas-Ft. Worth, Guadalajara, and New York-JFK.

For travelers seeking information on what they can pack, TSA's website and social media platforms provide quick responses from officers. To ensure a hassle-free travel experience, passengers are encouraged to visit SAT's website for parking options and other essential travel information.

As SAT prepares to accommodate the influx of Spring Break travelers, the airport remains committed to providing a seamless and enjoyable journey for all passengers.
